Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division serves as a critical link between the community and the City while enhancing efforts to promote the quality of life for all citizens.

This division is responsible for ongoing public education and enforcement of the City’s Human Rights Ordinance and Equal Opportunity in Purchasing Ordinance to ensure that contracting entities doing business with the City practice non-discriminatory hiring processes.

This division works to help those who feel they have been discriminated against by investigating complaints and working with both parties to resolve issues. The division is assisted in this role by the City’s Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission has a Citizen Review Subcommittee to review the investigations completed by the Police Department into citizen complaints and provide findings and recommendations to the Chief of Police.

Additional activities include providing supports and resources for the LGBTQ+ and immigrant communities, and addressing racial equity, diversity and inclusion.
